This year happens to be the twentieth year for Sumanth in the industry and the 44-year-old actor is going great guns by picking up unconventional scripts and playing unique roles. Despite having only a few hits in his kitty, this most-loved grandson of legendary thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao is still a bankable lead at the box-office courtesy his convincing acting chops, handsome looks and attractive screen-presence.
As officially confirmed, Sumanth will reprise the lead role in the Telugu remake of Malayalam gangster-comedy Padayottam. Sumanth’s new film will be directed by debutant Vinu Yagna. A new actress named Aima has been paired with Sumanth in this film. The regular shooting will commence from December 15. Tammineni Janardhan Rao and Sharma Chukka will be jointly producing the movie under East India Talkies and The Manthra Entertainments banners.
The film is likely to hit the cinemas next year. A gangster comedy, this is going to be screenplay-based rather than story-driven. This is the first time that Sumanth is doing such a film. After ‘Subrahmanyapuram’ didn’t do that well last year, he waited for the right story to arrive his way.
