Story:
Shivayya (Ravindra Vijay) is a powerful man in Peddapalli village and ten surrounding villages in Guntur district. His word is law in these villages. Shivayya destroys the lives of women using his money and power. On the other hand, Pushpa (Anjali) is a prostitute. She is Shivayya’s mistress. In this sequence, Darshi (Sree Tej), who works for Shivayya, falls in love with Pushpa. She also loves him. They want to get married. But, why did Darshi have to tie the knot with Lakshmi (Ananya Nagalla)? Why did Darshi go to jail after that? What did Darshi do after coming out of jail? How did Pushpa finally take revenge on Shivayya? The rest of the story is.
Plus Points:
Twenty-five years ago, caste and religion were highly respected in the villages. This series also runs in the same background. The crime drama woven around Shivayya’s character, who is a big man, and the character of the prostitute Pushpa, as well as the suspense of what will happen next in some episodes, are well maintained. The relationship between Pushpa and Shivayya’s characters and Darshi’s character with these characters is impressive. Moreover, the crime conflict that revolves around these three characters is also good.
Anjali’s performance as the prostitute Pushpa is very good. Anjali’s performance in bold and love scenes is the highlight of the series. Another heroine, Ananya Nagalla, also acted well. Although Ananya’s character does not have much length due to the story, she impressed with her performance. Ravindra Vijay’s performance as Shivayya is also good. He did full justice to the role of a big man. Sree Tej, who appeared in another key role, also acted very well. The rest of the actors also acted well within the scope of their characters. The director has handled some emotional scenes well in this suspense crime series.
Minus Points:
The main plot of this series, the characters of Shivayya and Pushpa, the story background of Peddapalli village, the portrayal of other characters, and the performance of the actors are good, but the director Mahesh Prajapati could not fully impress in terms of the story. Although the emotions between the characters were well established in the last three episodes, the narrative appears melodramatic in some sequences. The series lacks interesting elements in crucial scenes.
Even though the writer-director succeeded in showcasing the village milieu and the conflict between Shivayya and Pushpa characters, he underperforms in the screenplay department. While the core theme of powerful village heads exploiting women belonging to lower castes was established convincingly, the narrative would have benefited from a much deeper conflict in the treatment.
Technical Aspects:
Speaking of technicians, the director Mahesh Prajapati’s taking is good. However, he failed in some places to write a good screenplay. The music provided by music director Sidharth Sadasivuni is good. The background score also impressed in some key scenes. The cinematography work is good. The production values of the producer Prasanthi Malishetti are very good.
Verdict:
The series, which runs as ‘Bahishkarana’, maintains the suspense of what will happen next in some episodes. Some scenes that go with a raw and rustic feel are also okay. However, the lack of interesting elements in the screenplay, slow narration in some parts, and boring scenes are the minus points of the series. Overall, the acting of the actors and some crime elements in this series will only connect with a certain section of the audience. The rest of the audience will not be impressed by this series.
Overall Rating: 3/5
Recommendation: This series can be watched by those who like crime dramas set in rural backdrops. However, those who are looking for a gripping and engaging story may be disappointed.
