Prank fame Web series, Shashi mathanam, starring Pavani Siddha and Soneya Singh, is streaming now on OTT. While it may not have reached expected levels, the series still entertains to some extent.
Story:
Varangal native Madhan(played by Pavani Siddha) befriends Shashi(Soneya Singh) from Hyderabad and hides his past. The siblings’ family decides to get Shashi married, and Madhan accompanies her to their home, intending to evade his past. However, they fail to realize that their plan cannot escape their past for too long.
Plus Points:
The chemistry between Pavani Siddha, and Soneya Singh is super nice. They will continue to charm viewers with their performances. The comedy scenes have taken off, and the scenes depicting their relationship have done nicely. Soniya Singh’s Father’s role played by Pradeep Rapper is impressive. However, many emotional scenes could not evoke a emotional response from the audience. The episode ends abruptly, feeling rather abrupt.
In some parts, the love scenes between the leads are quite okay.
Minus Points:
The episode felt too long, and many emotional moments could not create an impact on viewers. The makers tried to present romance and comedy, but unfortunately, they failed to entertain at higher levels. Some scenes that started with good intentions felt disjointed.
If the episode had some excitement and unexpected twists, it could have pulled the audience. However, they took the expected route, resulting in a dull watch.
The director Vinod Gali might have aimed to create an emotive scene, but unfortunately, it didn’t evoke the intended sentiment.
Technical Aspects:
Singenitha Yerramiili’s music is okay. The visuals might have been shot with minimalistic approach. Editing is clean though.
It could have been better if some memorable scenes had been added. The music of a song, for instance, had caught the audience’s attention.
Verdict:
Overall, Shashi mathanam is an okayish watch with no significant emotional impact. While Pawani Siddha and Soneya Singh have done justice, most of the emotional scenes have missed their mark. A few interestingly crafted scenes might have improved viewer engagement.
